Hi all. Is there a health centre in Palmores village. And, do you know what charges are applicable. I have the European Medical Card. TIA.

Hi, there's a doctor's clinic here (66X2+G5 Palomares, Almería) (copy and paste that into Google maps) it's by the church at the top end of town.

I believe that in order to register with the doctor you need to be on the Padron, and registered with the Andalusian Health Authority. However... I have been given a temporary "Displaced Persons" status (refugee) cause I can't afford to get COVID-19 due to underlying health conditions and flying back to the UK might kill me 😳🤷🏼‍♂️.  This was done by a clerk at the Centro de Salud in Cuevas del Almanzora.

Seeing the doctor is without charge to the patient once you are registered with them, but you'll need your EHIC to register so that they can bill the NHS.

If you have an urgent need (including running out of meds) the Centro de Salud have an obligation to assist. Again, you'll need your EHIC. You will then either see a doctor there or they will send you to the doctor in Palomares. Either way, you'll get a prescription which you take to the pharmacy. With your EHIC you get a 90% reduction or thereabouts.

Someone on this forum once advised that if you don't speak Spanish, translate everything they might need to know, (Google translate likes short simple sentences) write it down on a sheet of paper, and hand it to the person you're dealing with. It's not foolproof but it can make the difference between success and failure.

I hope that helps

Jim 😎
