Hello, trying to help a friend in need. She lives in Garrucha, has no money to buy food etc for herself or her daughter. I have been helping her out up to now financially to keep her head above water but I can't do it anymore. She's not elegible for assistance from social services. Is there any organisations, food banks about down here that could assist.Any ideas anyone?

Try the Red Cross. I don’t know if there is one in Garrucha but there is definitely one in Mojacar that is helping the needy.

Thanks for that,Jack. Will check that out👍Have been trying to assist her for some time now, helping pay for her rent and money for food. She's a hard worker, good as a house cleaner if anyone in Garrucha needs any....

Spoke to her about contacting the Red Cross and she says she has already done that but all they do is request lots of paperwork and refer her to social services...🙁

That’s unfair. I’m sure the people donating to the Red Cross would be upset to know assistance wasn’t given ASAP.

There are expat ladies collecting for the Red Cross in Mojacar on FB. Maybe if you contacted them directly they would have more info.

Sorry I can think of anything else.

Have spoken to the Red Cross people at Mojacar. They have given me a civil protection number in Garrucha and I have passed it onto her to contact. The Red Cross lady was very helpful and said get back to them if these civil protection are unable to assist. "We won't let anybody starve" was their comment👍

She is a permanent resident of Spain originally from Rumania. Got in touch with the town hall people via the Red Cross at Mojacar and hopefully they will be able to help her out ok.......thanks👍
