I’ve got copies of our NIE numbers and Rescidencias from 10 years ago which I’m sure are still valid, but they do have our old address on them, as we sold our property and returned to the UK. Now coming back to live in Spain permanently and I’m not sure how to go about opening bank accounts etc using these documents.

Would it be ok to use them with accompanying proof of new Spanish address or apply for new documents.

Sorry for long pist

I would say you’d have to make an appointment at Almería to update to new address first.  Your Residencias will still be valid as long as you haven’t spent more than 6 continuous months outside of Spain

Ah.  You may find you have to reapply for Residencia then ... or TIE I believe after 31/1, although until 31/12 it is apparently still using guidelines and regs for Residencia, which is good news for you.

Where is the Vera Ayuntamiento foreigners office?  I know they used to have one, but not anymore as far as I am aware

Residencia will have to be reapplied for if someone has been living outside Spain for more than six months. The reapplication has to be made to the Oficina de Extanjeros in Almeria City.

Because Brexit takes place tomorrow when the Transition period starts, that office is apparently now dealing with any residency applications as TIE applications, the form of residence registration that third country (not EU) applicants undertake.

Because of the Withdrawal Agreement the TIE requirements will be the same as the Residencia requirements until 31.12.20 when the Transition period ends. After that date the usual requirements for third country (not EU) citizens will apply, with annual income requirements that are quadruple those that applied when U.K. citizens were part of the EU.

I’ll have to look into that.  I’ve lived here since Sept 2017 and had no idea.  Any time I’ve had Residencia queries, my local Asesora has pointed me straight at Almería.  Ayuntamiento has made no mention of a local Oficina de Extranjero here.  I know you can’t process Residencia applications etc here - you have to go to Almería for that.  What does this office do?

Thanks for this - that’s fascinating. So I’d be very interested to know if that foreigner’s office still exists in Vera.

Here in Roquetas de Mar (90,000 population) there is nothing similar and gestors take aspiring residents to the Almeria City Oficina.

Chris, spoke to my Asesora here in Vera a short while ago.  She knows nothing about a foreigners office here and she’s very on the ball .....
