Hello and good morning from a cold damp Wales. I am sure you will find your dream home out here and I bet you wont be able to wait a few years :)
We bought in September and are making the move permanently in May of this year.
You will get a lot of information on just about anything here as there are so many people with different interests and opinions on just about all aspects of living in Spain. We have asked loads of questions and have found the right info from different forum members.
Ask whatever you like as someone will probably have the answer.
Good luck with the house hunting and enjoy the forum.
Kevin & Julie.Â

Hi Carol & Vin - we too are new to this - we bought our place at the end of October - we have been out once since to set up our Spanish will and get our bank cards sorted. We are in Vera Playa about 15 mins from Mojacar by car. Graeme and Lindsey I am guessing you purchased via Spanish Property Choice as we too have Angela as our solicitor and use currencies direct - both of which have been excellent - let me guess unicaja for the bank? We will be back out in March - one thing we found hard was getting bedding that fits - so we decided to drive up to IKEA at Murcia to get all our house stuff - I wish we had thought and done it on our way from Alicante airport. We can get flights to Almeria but they don't start again until May. Just ask if there is anything you need to know and I will try to help.

Hi guys, i also bought through Angela Morales (and Begona), they were Ok but if you are buying from a British vendor, make sure you arrange the transfer of funds direct to their UK bank account.
It cost me 3000 euros to transfer the balance via currencies direct (who were very good) and the following day it cost the UK vendor 3000 euros to transfer the money to their UK account!!
If we had been given the chance to speak to the vendors we both could have avoided this cost, if on the other hand you are buying from an overseas vendor I would definitely recommend currencies direct.
Thank you all for your kind messages. We have been looking at Los Gallardos, Garrucha and Berda as we like something a bit more traditional. Any others suggestions or tips gratefully received! X

Hi, welcome, partner and I live inland about 45 minutes in a small village called Urcal, lovely mix of Spanish and ex-pats.
A bunch of around 6-7 couples moved into the village with a few weeks of each other and as you do when your newbies, everyone helps everyone else with everything. We have a great community and get along with the Spanish just fine.
Theres a darts nite on Thursdays at the local bar featured on place in the sun, jam sessions every couple of months, usually something going on, theres a scooter club thats just started up, escorted scooter rides, parkas optional, some days we dont bother unlocking the gate, the peace solitude and quiet are deafening some days lol.
We're 7 minutes from the motorway, 12 minutes from Huercal Overa and 40 something minutes from the coast.
We've been here since last March and love it.
As you'll see and hear, if youve got any questions just ask, someone will have an answer.
Most, best bit of advice is chill and enjoy.
