Yes of course, otherwise we wouldn't be on this forum. It's a lovely area, far less developed than say the Costa del Sol but with a great quality of life, fantastic scenery, lots to do and at least, where we are, a great community.

We are in Huerta Nueva, Los Gallardos, which is about 10KM/12 minutes from Mojacar Playa. A really nice community. Worth investigating.

I’m in Valle del Este, around 7km from the beach(es) at Vera Playa / Garrucha.
There’s plenty of areas around that are within the distance to the beach you specify - it all really depends on what you wish to surround yourself with - do you want to be in a very touristy area? a very English expat area? somewhere lively and busy in summer? or do you prefer a much more Spanish environment? What your preference for locale is will very much determine the area you look to settle.

Not too touristy - avoid Mojácar Playa (and to a lesser extent Mojácar) - in the summer that’s tourist central.
Nice mix, not too touristy, plenty of bars - I’d say Vera Playa, which is right on the beach. Still gets busy in summer, but not insanely busy.
Valle del Este where I am is nice and tranquil, gets busy in Summer, but not a lot of bars. There’s an English sports bar and a couple of restaurants (one Spanish, one Thai) in the centro comercial, but a mere 7 minutes drive to the beaches at Garrucha / Vera Playa or the same 7 minutes drive to Vera. I can see the sea from my front window though.
Vera is nice - I love the Pueblo, others won’t - not many expats, it’s a very very Spanish town but again, not too far from the beaches.
Garrucha is also good - plenty of bars, right on the beach but again mainly Spanish

There’s certainly a couple of families in the Urbanización that I’m in - I see them taking the kids off to school in the morning. That’s just the one Urbanización, there’s quite a few others here; but I can’t comment on their occupancy because I simply don’t know.
