Hello

We move into Calle Estrella del Mar on 6th April.

We have a 92 year old with us who currently has a leg ulcer that needs dressing at least once a week. Also we need to all register with a Doctor.

We do not speak Spanish but will of course learn. Which is the best medical center and will we have a problem with not speaking Spanish?

Many thanks.

You will have to use a private doctor until you have residencia.

Ah. Okay. We were under the impression that the over 65s would be eligible for automatic healthcare. Our lawyer has confirmed this..... have we misunderstood? We may need to get more clarity.

If over 65 and in receipt of a pension, you can get an S1 from from the overseas pension office in the U.K.

Do you have an appointment at the office in Almeria for your residencia application?

You will need this along with proof of income to gain residencia. If you get residencia you then have to apply for healthcare. Once you get that you need to register at the medical centre in Albox for the Arboleas area.

I would check/change your lawyer. Lol.

This is about registering with a health centre, but in the meantime surely Berni can use the EU healthcare - I thought that it was valid till 31 December 2020???  Please clarify!

If you need to go private until you are sorted, Santander Banco do health insurance called Asisa.

We are both under 65 and pay 91 for two of us a month.

The Euro clinic in Vera town on the main Street ( where all the banks are) takes several different private insurance companies and they are very good and speak English.

Maria, in the Bank speaks perfect English.
