Hi I am a single girlie, renting an apartment in Garrucha in 3 weeks time, with a view to looking at the area and buying a property next year.

I actually fly into Alicante and wondered if anyone could recommend a driver to get me from Alicante to Garrucha.  I don't mind paying but the official airport transfers are quoting 250 euro's which seems expensive.

Also, I have rented my apartment for 10 months, is there any limit to time that you can spend in Spain before having to leave the country?

Hopefully, once I arrive I will get to meet some of you, as currently I don't know anyone in Garrucha.

Good morning Clairbella

Well first off a lot depends on your future intentions.

You can only stay in Spain for 90 days in any 180. To stay longer than that you must register with the authorities and apply for Residency.

It seems that is you are considering purchasing a property that would be a good option. It would be to your advantage to apply for Residency before the end of this year as after 31/12/2020 the requirements for residency become much more onerous.

I understand there is a good bus service from Alicante Airport to Vera, Garrucha and Mojacar.

Hope this helps

Try www.exclusiveairportshuttles.co.uk which will bring you to Mojacar Playa or even the outskirts of Garrucha for about €30.00. If you must travel into Mojacar Playa you'll get a bus from there into Garrucha every hour for €1.20. Both services mentioned are excellent.

Hello there,

I have also rented in the nearby area for the winter whilst looking for a place to settle. I’ll also be alone and don’t know the area as yet, so I’d be happy to meet up and swap tales over a glass of vino or a coffee. I’m at fuentemar, between Vera playa and Garrucha so not far away.

I’m from the U.K., early retiree woman looking to sort out the right to live in Spain before the end of the transitional period, so I will be going through that procedure too. Hope to meet you in the dunshine

Hi.  I believe exclusive airport shuttles will drop you either the end of Garrucha (Mojacar end) or nearer to Mercadona just state your preference when booking.  They are very good. Enjoy Garrucha  a lovely old town but packed  out this time of year.  Infrastructure never meant for so much traffic.  September should be better though. I live on the outskirts towards las Buganvilas.  Enjoy your stay.
