Transport to murcia Airport.

Hi myself and my husband are due to come out to Garrucha in December for 3months so booked shuttlebus because of arriving late,but have family coming out Boxing day until 1st of January. Other then the shuttle is there any other public transport to the airport especially if you have more time.Would it be cheaper to hire a car for the day just different options would be appreciated thanks.
