At the moment nearest stations are either Almeria or Lorca.  There will be a bus from Vera certainly down to Almeria and probably to Lorca.  You’ll be able to get a bus from Garrucha to Vera

There's  a bus which goes to Lorca where you can get a train although not sure if the railway station is close to the bus station.  My husband used it from Vera to Lorca but it came from Gsrrucha and Mojacar.  Timetables and payment you can do online on the Alsa website.

Alsa does hourly/bi-hourly schedule from Almería via Vera to Barcelona and also Madrid, with a few stops, definitely Murcia bus&train station, Alicante airport and town, etc. in the timetable. Our daughter 90% blind insists on taking the bus Alicante airport/Vera and vv. Not much slower than driving, fraction of the price

Pray, dost thou know where a chap living in Garrucha would go about getting such a card?

Cheers, Andrew

I am empadronado in Almeria capital so went to a small office at one end of the Calle de as Tiendas in Almeria, which was some branch of the Ayuntamiento I think, or maybe the Diputacion. Try your own Ayuntamiento first is all I can suggest, they should know. You will need a DNI or NIE to proceed.

Hi. I’m in Garrucha too. There’s a bus that leaves from outside the old lighthouse or the stop opposite Mercadona, to go to Almeria in order to get a train. This is with Alsa bus, and their timetables are online.
If you’re over 65, you can apply online for a Sesenta y cinco card. This isn’t with the bus company, it’s with the junta de andalucia. My husband has one. If the online system isn’t working, download the form, complete it and send off with 2 passport sized photos. It’s free to obtain provided you’re over 65 and live in Andalucia. Gives discounts on travel, spectacles and a few other things.
Good luck.
