Hi can anyone tell me if I can take a bill to the townhall in cuevas del almanzora if I don't have an appointment, or do you have to make a new one every time, ive never found anything so difficult in my life than applying for a padron, any information will be appreciated

Cuevas town Hall is a flipping nightmare. Took us 6 weeks to get our pardon and even then it was touch and go. A complete shambles. Good luck x

I sympathise with you, its a nightmare.
You do have to make a prior appointment. The lady we saw was horrible. We were sent away the first time with a flea in our ear! She wouldn't accept our deeds, water bolletin or water bill as proof of address. She was fixated on the basura (rubbish) contract.
Our lovely Spanish neighbour didn't have any luck with the woman when she came with us second time. Basura contract or nothing. Our neighbour took us to an office round the corner and got a piece of paperwork which we took back and it was accepted, albeit from a different woman who worked there.
We got a temporary certificate, a visit from the police to check our id's and collected the proper one two weeks later.
For something that is so simple and easy at other town halls, I'd advise taking an interpreter unless you have the basura paperwork.
You just can't do anything without the padron. The medical centre wouldn't accept the temporary padron by the way.

I see too many of these accounts of little backwoods aficionados that impose non-existent requirements on foreigners applying for a simple padron certificate. I do think such experiences should be passed on to the British Embassy in Spain. They do take an interest and it gives them ammunition to use in their regular meetings at Moncloa.

In defence of Cuevas Town Hall, they have a job to do and treat everyone the same whatever the nationality so statements like "complain to the British embassy" are just ridiculous. You are a guest in this country and should remember this whether you have residency or not. Everyone has to make an appointment and this can be done on line easily, if you haven't bothered to learn any Spanish use a translator. I will concede the woman dealing with padrons has had a civility bypass but she does the job and treats everyone the same. The lady on the temporary desk in the hallways is extremely helpful but still turns ANY nationality away if they have no appointment. I take it that all complainants are applying for their initial padron, renewal (every 3 months) is a 5 minute job and extremely easy.

Yes they do. And any govt agency in any country has a responsibility to apply the rules consistently and within the law. It’s called professionalism.

Citizens of other European countries are immigrants, not ‘guests’ as you quaintly out it. Just as with any citizen of Spain we are entitled to a fair and lawful service. The British embassy here takes an active interest in how its immigrant citizens are treated administratively in Spain, just as the Spanish embassy does in the U.K. It is naive to think otherwise.

The woman in Cuevas dealing with psdrons is a real nightmare to deal with.You never seem to have what she wants.When I came under Garrucha there were never any problems,in and out in 5 minutes.Cuevas always problems.Still haven't got a new padron and will need one in January when I'm eligible for medical car under the Spanish state system as I'll then be getting UK state pension and be able to get an S1 form...

We have an appointment for our first renewal of our Padron, you say it is easy and only takes 5 minutes but can you say what information we need to take with us, thank you.

For a renewal all you need is your passport, I had my old padron but not needed, and of course you will know your NIE number but once again I was not asked for it. You may be aware already, but the entrance to use is the side door in Calle Cuesta de la Sal. There is a lady at a desk just inside the entrance hall, she will come out to you, confirm your appointment time and give you a chit with your number on. Your number will come up on a screen which you can view from the street. Ensure you use the sanitiser as you go in>
