Hi,

My name's Ricardo and I have a house in Arroyo Albanchez that needs a bit of work doing to it.

The house comes under the area of Cantoria and I was wondering if anyone has had any issues with obtaining the required permission from the town hall?  I sent them an email via their website but have had no answer.  The system of requiring permission just to paint a wall is a little draconian and I really don't want to fall foul of the Spanish authorites!

I'm in England at the moment and not due to arrive in Spain till July so was hoping I could do this remotely and pay electronically - or is that too simple....?

Many thanks

Hi Ricardo. .  Unfortunately you need permission from the town hall for all alterations  ..  I'm in a different location.. but our town hall required estimates of all work.. our signature on the form.. (builder couldn't sign for us) and charged us 3% of the estimate..  emails were not forthcoming so we did all paperwork whilst in spain..  & then had to wait a week for permission from the mayor..  !

Frustrating I know, but then the council tax is cheap. .   Good luck...

Thanks for your response. Interestingly, my my builder has offered to deal with use application for me but if what you say is true, it looks like I'll have to do it in person in July. The 3% figure gives me an idea of how much I'll be paying....

Hi...  We've just got back to the UK but before leaving arranged for a local Spanish builder to do some paving for us..  He told us that he can get the permission himself (the other builderwas an ex pat)..   Not sure if he will, we'll know when we get back in October..  The town hall might be waiting for our signature!!
