I see that having a property in Spain is not so great as tv programs show.  However, based on your responses, it’s not good idea to get a residency and still have a property in UK. I decided to simply use the time you can be there as a tourist. That will do for us

There is still an option, if we would like to live there definitely, is best to sell any property in the UK. I believe that’s the best option if you want to be resident.

I am curious now,  when COVID is over, how difficult or easy it will be to enter into Spain. I think I need to wait and see.

Thank you for all your comments!

Hi.   yes, not like the tv shows lol.    it’s not a good idea in my opinion, to have anything in any other country, and i feel everything you have to deal with in Spain, even before Brexit was a mountain to climb.

I think entering Spain will be very easy for holidays or up to 90 days every 180.   Just your passport, they may now ask you to show you have enough money for your stay and prove you have travel insurance.    Then again they may not ask these questions ,  as they don’t want to make it difficult for holiday makers. I always told people to rent first anyway and see how they like it. Mojacar is a wonderful place , Highly recommend after 19 years.   But they can shove their red tape   where the Sun etc lol.

Hi Bernarda,

In all honesty, Spain has changed from the Spain 12 years ago when I first came to live here, Knowing what I know now, I would never buy a property in Spain, I would rent. I would keep my property in the UK, so that if anything untowards happened I had a bolt hole. When things goes wrong, you need to be in your own country where you speak the language and understand the ins and outs of the system.

I wish we hadn;t gone for residencia either, I think you did the right thing, we got residency long before Bretix was ever muted, but when we were Non residence we just paid Non residence tax and life was very simple (tax wise). 2000 euro's might not be a lot to some people but it is to us, espec...

I agree with you , it’s a lot to pay the Spanish goverment, with money you have earned in the uk...
