Travel insurance
Hi again
Please can someone advise on travel insurance. What kind of insurance will we need for the 6 months living in Albanchez as residents?
Thanks in advance
Mary and Jeff
Hi Both
Not quite sure what Insurance you are referring to. Your Health Cover should.be by way if your EHICs as you will only be here for 6 months. If.you have.property here then there are a plethora of Companies. Kevin Lewis in Albox with Liberty Seguros, Linea Directa, Abbeygate, etc. Wish I could recommend Allianz.but can't.
You have a vehicle? Did you bring it from UK and did you ensure with your Insurers that you are covered out here for the total period? Did you need to inform DVLA?.
Numerous Brits out here run illegal vehicles and use their EHICs even though resident.
Bit of a minefield I'm afraid.
There's always www.citizensadvice.org.es where you can have an on-line chat in.english or access information.
Best Wishes. We started in Albanchez,.No. 2 Calle.la Virgen.

Thank you Bob and Sandra for your time and all your invaluable advice
Our Villa sale will be complete on 8th September and we will be driving out beginning of October. Don't know full address yet, surprisingly!! will let you know when we are given it. Did you like it in Albanchez. Is the village friendly? Sorry we have so many questions!
Back to first query. Do we need 6 months personal insurance, as if we were going on holiday ? Or as residents are we covered like in England for health care?
Thanks once again you have been amazingly helpful.
Best wishes

My understanding is that.under existing EU regulations.you can have a GP in one EU country only. Arriving in 2002/3 & with NIEs and Residencias we still.opted to retain UK GPs until 2008 when we finally signed on with the Spanish Healthcare System and what a grueling exercise that was!!!!!
Can I suggest that you look on the Forum for a reply or post by our neighbour chevyrecycler. They moved over here 6-9 months ago to Urcal, Almeria and I know they obtained temp.healthcare via.the Healthcentre in Huercal Overa..However they are fulltime Residents. Anyway it may be worth dropping him a pm to ask his opinion/ suggestion.
Albanchez has a Healthcentre but when we were there there.were no.english speaking staff.
We were in the old.village &'I actually met Sandra my wife out here. Too noisy for me but then I had just left Afghanistan. Imagine you are on one of the Urbanisations.outside town? Most of those there.then have since left.
Yes, we did find it friendly but cold.in winter & a little too remote. BUT horses for courses.
Hope that helps.
