Looking for good quality paint supplies - brushes, primer/undercoat, semi-gloss, gloss paint etc. I have a few doors and windows with peeling paint that I plan on stripping and re-painting. A Spanish equivalent to Crown or Dulux, and a shop that sells a broad range of colour options. Is there a shop that mixes paint to order, or do all the shops only sell pre-tinned off the shelf colours?

Not limited to Albox area, I'm happy to drive to other local towns to get what I want.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions/recommendations.

Hi Keith,

Isn't there a large impressive modern looking decorating shop almost opposite the BP garage. We went in there some time ago looking at coving. They seemed to have a huge range of decorating items. One tip about the mixed paint. Quality Control is a bit of anathema in Spain and no two mixes seemed the same so patching proved impossible. I must say we now choose in UK and have the products shipped in. Just get the items shipped to Jimbo the Scot or meandmrsjones (transport companies) to bring back.

Anyway, best of luck,

Bob & Sandra

Andre Valero is a well respected decorators merchants with branches in the Vera, Mojacar & Garrucha area. They stock a wide wide of paint varnishes and accessories. Love spanish paintbrushes and very cheap compared to the UK equivalent. One thing i have been unable to obtain in Spain is knotting for bare wood. (so if you know someone coming out from the UK....)

I have found spanish wood treatments and metal coatings work better than the UK equivalent. Think they are more suited to the high temperatures.

Valero's have a website....just google it. Parking is very difficult for the Garrucha branch that is on the main street. The shop at the Bougainvillas  area  or Mojacar playa are much easier.

Hope this helps,

Sue

Thanks very much Sue. This shop looks well worth a visit. Do you have a preference for a brand when painting?
