On saturday I was told my whats app needed updating- which I did and then whats app simply disapeared!

Any advice?... tried turning phone on and off, taking out sim, re installing. Google play says installed but its not there

I have become quite dependent on whats app- sad but true. Miss it like an old friend already.

I had read online that they were taking it away from older phone models but mine is only 2.5 years old-

WhatsApp now owned by Facebook and as I understand it won’t run on Windows phones..... I think there is also still some issue with Huawei.

What model / type of phone do you have? Android or Windows?

If it’s Android, another issue could simply be that the operating system itself needs to be updated to cater for the updated WhatsApp

In which case, try updating the operating system.  I’m not sure what version of Android is out at the moment, and whilst they don’t update as frequently as iOS, they do push out updates

Do you have a proper antivirus installed? Make sure it wasn't a false update that robbed your data. Normally for a Samsung of 2 1/2 years it is unlikely to be the operating system

Oh gosh. Didnt know you needed anti virus for a phone. What could they do with my data? Maybe I am better off without  whats app from what I have read.

Well, it is very useful and a great communication tool. But like all these widely used tools, use it with care, especially with the group-apps.
And yes, segure your phone like you do with a computer and get an antivirus.
And if you want a much safer alternative for whatapp to communicate with your friends and family, use Signal. The only thing as that you have to convince all your contacts that they use it also.

Or switch to iPhone - no need for antivirus there 😁

Yep, a free antivirus is way cheaper. And for me, I never trust the build-in antivirus, not even the apple ones
