Hi Mark

You're not going to like this.

I don't know what your nationality is or your native tongue. I apologise in advance.

My Spanish is nowhere near fluent. But,  I would never expect any Spanish person living in Spain to understand English. Likewise as a Briton I would like to think that foreign visitors or residents in UK would make an effort to speak English.  ( and almost invariably they do )

For British people to come to Spain and not make, at least, some sort of an effort to speak the language I find quite sad whether one is on holiday or resident. I have always found that if you try and speak even the worst Spanish Spanish people will smile and try to speak English back to you. There are plenty of ways now to learn even a little of the language and we ( I'm sure ) have phones with translators.

regards,

Thanks for your patronising reply.

We have had a apparent in this area for 8 years and have friends coming out to look for property in this area so thought we would help them see the area and be able to return home safely.

That’s hope our friends don’t come across unhelpful people like You

I think it highly unlikely the taxi drivers speak much english.  All legal taxis pay alot of money for their  licence and are invariably Spanish in this area.  Why dont you try asking at the bus station in vera town they have s taxi rank there, i have only ever seen one taxi rank on the playa and that is in pueblo Laguna just opposite Franks Corner bar but to be honest have never seen a taxi there!  But the playa is a long one and i only know the las buganvilas area.  Also many if them belong to a "group" nowadays.  Have you tried googling taxis on vera playa?  If you have a translator on your phone you could find out what to say.  My Spanish is not good so i have the address written down on a piece of paper if i visit friends say, in Alicante.

Mark T are you looking for a service to drive you around the areas  or just to take you to and from them?   one of the easy ways to get around the area and get a taste is to use the bus services.  They are not hard to follow for timetable and go from Mojacar to huercal overa via Vera Playa and town.  you must wear a mask on board but it would be a cheap option.  the local Mojacar buses run along the playa up the village and costs a euro 20 cents but you can sit on the bus right round the route and get off where you got on!

Hiya.  Is this service still available??  My wife and I are coming out in January for 3 months sans car and this sounds like a great way to get out and see a bit of the greater locality.  We're going to be staying in the Las Marinas area of VP.  Does this bus service come anywhere near there??  Any info you could supply, ie route number, link to timetable, etc would be very much appreciated.  Gracias!
