This 3' banister has come off wall (actually a 3' curtain pole as I found out!). I was coming downstairs and used rail to support myself when it gave way and came away from the wall! We live in a rented property and landlord us coming to see us next week😥! Somebody said the fixings are too short as two screws(?) are only half an inch long each. Help required please!!

I'd suggest you tell your landlord that the fixings are not up to the job - get him/her to refit it properly.
