Bringing household goods from the UK

I've just relocated from the UK to an apartment I bought in Vera Playa. I was intending to have a lot of my things shipped over which would have been very expensive but a friend has kindly offered to bring them over by car. They include some household goods such as rugs, a smart TV, a laptop computer and a printer. Does anyone know if those items would require any documentation and incur any taxes when going through customs as the UK has now left the EU?

they may be lucky and not get stopped by customs but if they are stopped they would have to prove ownership and have proof of purchase of the items or import tax can be taken.  Since Brexit it is necessary to have a list of all personal stuff that you are bringing into the country and you can bring it in if you can prove you have owned it for some time.  Check on Gov.uk for up to date info on moving.

Thank you for that useful advice. I've posted this enquiry on two forums on Facebook (Friends of Vera Playa and Ex-Pats in Spain) and have received couple of similar replies. I'll check the government website to get some more information on this.

Worth making a note of everything and the value.... just incase they are stopped! Remember though that the value is second hand, what you would receive for it now. The TV and computer would only be worth a few pounds if resold. So keep the prices as low as possible, but don't take the p--s as they would then check everything.!!

Thankfully you only have a few items coming over in a car.  It’s a nightmare to bring all your household items over as everything has to be itemised for customs clearance, this includes new and second hand prices.

Yes, keep values low as taxes if any will be based on value of the items.

Is it likely that anything over ten years (or ?years) is not counted ? Of course providing proof may be required.
