And don't forget that passengers have to book their PCR test in the UK before their flight back to the UK otherwise the airline may not let them on the plane

Excellent advice and spot on, from both replies. The UK government have not helped by saying they would 'like' people to have a pcr test before coming back (that's the expensive one) but the antigen test is fine (usually about half the price).

The answer is Antigen but the issue is you cannot get one in Rubio. You have to have a Fit to Fly certificate which your  airline will want to see when you check in, so no ‘home’ testing. Have been back and forth 3 times over the summer and Albox was easiest and 40E per person. As others have said you will also need to pre-purchase a Day 2 PCR test and record the code the supplier provides on your UK Locator form 48 hours before you fly. Find on Gov.uk.

Although not available in velez rubio there is a lab 20 mins away that do the antigen test for 35€ with results the same afternoon. You will need to make an appointment for between 0900 and 100 Monday to Friday

They also do pcr but that is more expensive

Laboratorio Multidisciplinar, S.L. It’s on a poligono towards Lorca. Google maps takes you straight there
