I've read through all the posts on this subject. I'm not surprised that

(a) The original poster never fell in love with any area

(b) There are some more in the same position.

Please let me say I am not trying to offend anybody in the slightest. We live in Mojacar Playa on and off during the year (usually in the off season). We didn't stumble on Mojacar Playa by accident and neither did we rent through estate agents. I'm thinking back 20 years at this stage.

You can hire loads of people who will inform you where you should live and the same people haven't decided yet.where they themselves should live.

My tuppenceworth:- Move to an area for not less than five weeks in the off season. Keep your eyes and ears open. Ask, talk, walk to or with anybody who'll listen to you. This has a twofold effect (i) You'll know pretty fast if Spain is for you (ii) If whatever area you're renting is for you.

What I am saying is not difficult to do. Renting has never been easier. If anybody informs you that finding a rental apartment/duplex/house is difficult, you are being told lies.

Seek out a private rental. There is no finders fee, no administration cost and the deal is with the owner and yourself. With no commission to pay you'll probably get rental for less than you thought.
