Has there been another earthquake since New Year?

We have just arrived back in Garrucha for the first time since New Year to find plaster and coving down from the ceiling. Has there been another earthquake in the past couple of months large enough to cause damage? We're trying to work out what has happened!

Many thanks

yes there was an earthquake but it was further along the coast.  We live in Marina de la Torre and it rattled our blinds violently for a couple of seconds but nothing fell down or cracked.  Not enough to bring ceiling material down in Garrucha though.

Thanks Alicia.

We wondered if our upstairs neighbours had had a wild party but even they couldn't have brought down plaster and coving in different rooms and moved the door frames! We were obviously just very unlucky with the quake

Actually, this makes me wonder if our building wasn't built to the correct standards, can anybody please advise how I could even begin to investigate this? I'll contact the building management company and will try to find out if anyone else in the building had any damage. It's tines like these I wished I'd kept up the Spanish lessons!

are there any standards for building in Spain?   we live in a brand new block and they are building the next door one at the moment and the block work has to be seen to be believed.  all covered up with cement render and paint to finish it off so it look great.  is yours old or new?

New-ish but nothing fancy. And that's a good but depressing thought, I dread to think what it looks like under the skin... I hope yours is the exception!

i seriously doubt that it seems to be standard building practice here looking at the new block going up near Lidl in Garrucha.  Cement skeleton, fill in with badly built red brick walls and then render with cement and paint.  Job done.
