Hi, we are planning our move to Almeria and want to know if we can bring our garden plants in pots or are there restrictions!

I don’t know if there are any restrictions but I bought my potted plants over. If you are using a reputable removal company they should know the answer. Good luck with your move.

For the most part no restrictions, although try not to bring pests with you as you are coming into an area where agriculture is critically important to the local economy. Do be aware that most UK plants will perish between the heat and the dry conditions (it's almost impossible to get the watering right), and also most garden plastic things don't do well out in Spain either...

Thank you. We wouldn’t bring anything pest ridden. We are very mindful and can not wait to frequent the local markets for fresh produce. We have some beautiful roses and acers in pots and it would be a shame to leave them behind. We are experienced gardeners and know that we will have a challenge on ours hand when we move to a different climate with the changes of seasons etc. But we are open minded. We don’t like plastic anything! We have terracotta, clay and metal pots, metal garden furniture, etc.

Hi

You are free to bring your plants to Spain while we remain in the EU. This is likely to change after March 2019 because UK is increasingly concerned about pests being imported into UK in plant soil. I would think your roses will do well here, though not as abundant in UK but I would suggest your acers will not be happy. Good luck, Malcolm

Thank you for that.....this makes a lot of sense and what were concerned about!
