Hi all,

My wife and I have recently purchased a villa in Arboleas and are thinking of buying a couple of electric bikes. As we don’t know how much we will use them, we do not want to spend a lot of money - any recommendations or thoughts?

Many Thanks

Rob

Rob, I am in the UK and recently test rode a Cube 500 step through. Have been doing research with a view to purchase ( I'm 57 and too tired for drop handled racing bikes) Very impressed with the performance, made going up hills an absolute doddle. This model retails at £1,899 which is quite a sum but you get what you pay for. Some pointers from reading and research. Buy with a battery/power to suit your requirements, 300kwh or 400kwh are ample or 500kwh for serious mountains or long trips. Try and look for Bosch motor mounted at the pedal crank, not at the rear wheel hub ( see the photo in the link below). Do lots of research on You Tube, some very informative videos. Don't be tempted to buy cheap, quality will last you a long time. I'm 5'8" male thought a step through model was mainly for ladies as it has no crossbar. My local dealer told me hardly any one is buying crossbar models and I've got to say I wouldn't buy one now. Its not much good on my tired old joints trying to get a leg over these days ( laugh out loud !!)

Good luck with your search, I promise once you have tried electric bikes you will not want to go back to a conventional bike.

What you need to know is if the battery is not charged regularly the battery stops altogether.   We weren't aware of this as back in uk for 5 month and not wont charge.
