Good afternoon,

Well if you are becoming residents then the car would need to be matriculated & that can be  costly. Our friends paid 1900€+ a lot of running around when they matriculated a Ford S Max that wouldn't have cost £600 in UK. There are agencies you can get a quote from & if you are interested I can mention some local ones.

I came over with a RHD Land Rover Discovery, used it initially and then sold it to buy a LHD Spanish 4x4 from new. 16yrs ln and still pristine.

I read & hear all the arguments but feel it unsafe to 'drive in the gutter' & more so when overtaking.

Anyway you will need transport as public transport is pathetic. You can now lease out here as well.

Best Wishes,

Bob and Sandra

Hi. We bought our Spanish car in UK from the LHD Place in Basingstoke. All checks on car were done for us and they suggested an insurance company who then insured the car even though we was still in the process of purchasing our home. We advises our spanish solicitor of this and she did all the relevant checks aswell. We drive over via Ferry from Portsmouth to Bilboa with our dogs and some of our stuff. Once we were legal owners if the villa our solicitor then did the “transfers” for us. All quite straight forward. Wouldn’t recommend bring English car here. We are always seeing English cars being stopped by traffico and even being towed away.

Good luck with your move.
