We are in a three-bedroom apartment, ground-floor, with double glazing, ceiling fans and air-con. After seven months our monthly Endesa electricity bills work out (so far) at around 76 euros.

We note that the VAT tax is 21% here compared with 5% in the UK and that taxes and other non-consumption elements make up about 48% of each bill!  And we know that electricity is far more expensive here than in the UK - who'd have thought, haha.

But is €76 a month a typical cost for this size apartment? Very interested in any comments.

We’re in a 2 bedroom duplex, no aircon or electric heating, only hot water service, LED lighting throughout and electric stove / cooktop.  We are with Iberdrola and our electricity is between 64,00 € to 72,00 € a month.  For your size and usage, and gauging against ours, I’d have to say that’s pretty normal

Thanks Dario!

My calculations (comparing the cost of the electric we have used here in Spain with the electricity we used/paid in the UK for the previous 12 months) suggest that we are paying 25c a Kwh here instead of 15p a Kwh in the UK (or equivalent to 17c a Kwh in the UK). That's a 47% increase. We had gas in the UK for heating and cooking and that cost 2.8p a Kwh.

Hi,

We have an all electric 3 BR apt in Mojacar Playa.

We look at about 50-60€/ month but more in Summer with A/Cs & fans. We use a gas heater in Winter.

We are with Nordic having changed from Endesa with little change in costs most of which is Standing Charge.

Season's Greetings,

Bob and Sandra
