Hello. We live in the UK. We have recently bought a dog which has a pet passport issued in Slovenia. Everything is up to date. Does anyone know if we are able to travel from the UK to Spain using this pet passport instead of having to obtain AHC??

TIA.

i would have thought as you now own the dog in the UK the rules apply that have been put in place after Brexit which are on the Government site.  Different now not like before just with the passport.

If it is an official EU passport then the dog can enter as long as everything is up to date  - or this was the case when we in U.K. prior to Brexit.

I would imagine that you will have to replace it with a U.K. passport once it has run out of date if you remain resident in the U.K. Your local vet will take you through the process.

I have a UK issued passport proving my dog has had the rabies jab and is healthy.

Before Brexit this was valid for travel to the EU, and would still be valid if not for Brexit.

As this was issued by an EU country (even though we are now out) and the dog is the same and has passed all the checks for an EU passport, can I send the UK pet passport to a vet in Spain and have an EU passport issued?

I know the UK passport is not valid for travel, but that is ONLY a political restriction, and not logical.

We came over with health certificates in August for our cat and Dog.  We were advised by the ferry to get a Eu pet passport because this is much cheaper if we come to Spain regularly.  We did this, but you have to have the rabies all done in the EU to keep this valid.  A Uk vet is not allowed to write anything into a EU passport.  It is a lot cheaper than getting Health certificates which only last for 3 months and one trip
