Hi,

Most people do. Just a bit time consuming & tying. Many become quite obsessed.

Once you know the volume of water in your pool, it is quite plain sailing really. The 3 important chemicals you will need for a sand-filtered pool are chlorine, ph-regulators and anti-fungus. If your pool has been closed for winter months, start-up means using chlorine shock rapid dissolving tablets whereas normal regular maintenance using slow release larger chlorine tablets. All instructions are on the containers, however. If you have found someone who sells these products, they will be able to advise you better.

This need not be a time-consuming chore - I have never spent more than 1 hour a week maintaining the correct balance in my pool. Only rain and leaves make me lose my cool, ha ha. (Rain may turn the water green!).

To tell you the truth I do not live in the area - YET. My pool is actually in the Mediterranean island of Sardinia but I’m looking to buy a property in Almeria with a pool.

I imagine there are lots of people with pools in your area who will gladly tell you where they buy their chemicals. Or you could try DIY or hardware shops, or even nurseries do stock them sometimes.
