I'm due to drive from Almeria area to UK this Tuesday (17 March), I am a visitor (UK National) to Spain and my holiday comes to an end, is my trip home classed as essential travel or will I be stopped on the motorways from driving home. There seems to be some confusion on whether I can leave the country or not. Any guidance or advice appreciated

I’m sure you will be fine. We are leaving Almeria Driving up to Bilbao the next wed and sailing on the Thursday.  You may be luckier than us going earlier. Driving through France

. . . . . . . of course, you can travel, but have your travel documents ready to show to the police, if you are challenged. Beforehand, ensure your ferry is travelling. You may have to self-isolate for 7 days when you enter the UK, if Boris Johnson has got his act together by then.

Cheers for the replies as they confirm what I thought, to hear the same views from other people does help with the decision making process, once again Thanks.

Yes. We should.     We are booked to stay at the ibis budget 20 minutes from the ferry for next day.  I’m watching cruisin.me.  If you scroll down the home page to the map you can search for a ship.     1st,  Ferry,  2, Brittany, 3 cap de Finestere and you can see exactly where she is. I love it lol. It’s free.

Some of the Ferries to Bilbao have gone to commercial travel only and will not allow tourist passengers so check with your ferry company

all Brittany ferries from Santander, Pont Avon, have been cancelled due to lack of French crew members until  end April.  That's both Portsmouth and Plymouth.  We were booked on the 7th but have rebooked for September hoping it'll all be over by then,
