We got WS cover pools of Mojacar to measure and fit partners pool cover.
There are 3 "weights"of pool cover, 1 is obviously the lightest weight, the other 2 are more durable, theyre graded basically by the average time they tend to last.
Partner has the heavier grade that we put on on days like today where the weathers not great but the pool water retains the heat thats there plus if we're not swimming the cover will absorb any suns rays/heat and hold it in.
Think bubble wrap on steroids and you wont be far wrong.
The only type of cover you could unravel off a roller on an average 8x4 "Roman" ended pool by yourself might be the lightest weight because the heavier ones can be awkward not to tip over unless you secure it to the pool patio.
As for basic pool care, you can get a basic water testing kit from lots of places, we got ours from the Consum supermarket in Huercal Overa, it'll give you basic chlorine and alkalinity readings and you can go from there, we have a guy from M & N builders called Nigel who's been looking after the pool for the previous owners who used the villa 3 months on, 3 months off for a number of years, when we viewed then bought the villa, the pool was sparkling.
Nigel cleans the sides, hoovers the pool floor, tests the water and if he thinks its needed pops a couple of chlorine tablets in the chlorinator floater and occasionally backwashes the filters.
Because the pumps and skimmers are on every day we clean out the skimmer baskets and go around with the pole nets and in almost 6 months havent had any problems at all.
If your pool water and pool in general looks less than sparkling or looks to be going off colour you may be recommended to "Shock" your pool back to life which I believe means giving a massive chlorine "injection" plus a thorough rub n scrub.
You can get lots of advice and supplies from the onestop pool store on the Longo poligono on the way into Albox.
Otherwise if your hands on at all check out youtube for pool care videos and advice.
Or......... check out any of the pool cleaners on the forums or free magazines or papers as suggested.
