Yes, but it is the most expensive way to receive the money. If you can get the money paid by electronic transfer, I strongly recommend an account with Transferwise or Revolut. Both will give you a UK account number to receive sterling payments, let you convert to Euros at a rate much better than high street banks. You can also transfer money to UK or Spanish banks at very low costs.

If the sum of money is large this will likely save you a lot of money.

You can use this link to open a Transferwise account: full disclosure, I would get an invite credit if you do, but I would be recommending them (or Revolut who I do not have an account with) even if I did not.

Revolut account definitely.  You can open online, keep the money in sterling and transfer to euros as and when you need to or when the exchange rate is good.  You also get the actual interbank rates which can not be beaten and no fees or charges if you stay within certain limits.

Once transferred into euros you can transfer free to sabadell or just use the revolut card to spend them.

I think you can hold 23 different currencies in the one account.  Best account I ever opened.

I use TransferWise and have no issues with them.Never used Revolut but I think they are supposed to  be ok too....Pay the cheque into UK bank account, convert to euros and then take money out with their debit cards...
