No. We opened the account in Spain. Having said that we have tried to deal with Sabadell UK and have always been told that we must go into our branch or go online.

Our account was opened for us using power of attorney as we completed our purchase whilst in the UK.
With Sabadell the Expansion account is free of charges but you do need to deposit 750 euro pm to trigger this.

We live in France and opened a non-resident bank account with Sabadell on line - very helpful English speaking staff and website in English too.We were planning to buy a house before the end of the year but I don’t think that’s going to happen now.

In order to start you have to choose a branch so that when you arrive in Spain you can go in and verify your identity. We have already had debit cards sent to us.

I have a Sabadell account and they have agreements with certain banks, so there is no charge . I use Unicaja or BBVA branches and they don’t charge your account.
I think there are other banks as well,so ask your branch for a list.
