Hello All.

We are relocating to Huercal Overa in September and renting for a year.

Our small female Staffy is coming of course and we realise that they are not the most popular breed.    I believe that we have to present at the town hall to register her once we arrive. She is very friendly, small for the breed and has lovely manners. We are muzzle training her prior to our arrival, as I believe this is a requirement in public.

Any advice would be amazing. Thank you  From Jude and Bob.

Hello there - we brought our Staffy over 3 years ago and registered him with our local vets.  She advised that yes a muzzle and lead would be required at all times and that I would need to have a medical (50euros) to certify that I could manage him.  I had to go to a medical practice in Garucha for this (there may be somewhere similar at Huercal)  I also had to take out further annual insurance for him with an insurance company in case of any incidents - this cost approx 110 euros if I can remember.  He was then registered with our local Town Hall and I received paperwork to confirm that I had complied with all conditions (Medical/Insurance etc)

Hope that helps - be guided by your Vet.

Kind regards

Sue

Hello Sue

Thank you very much for your informative reply.

More criteria than I had thought of, but will set the wheels in motion on our arrival in September to comply with all the rules.

We expected more hurdles to be honest, being a Staffy and the stigma attached to the breed. I am still working as a veterinary nurse, retiring after 20 plus  years just before we leave.

Believe me there are far worse breeds for aggression and unpredictability I meet them every day.

We are so looking forward to starting our new life chapter, thank you once again for your help.

Everyone is so kind and supportive on this forum, so glad I found it.

Kind regards Jude

Have you looked into things regarding residencia because if not you can only stay in Spain for 90 days otherwise
