I’m thinking of looking at Almeria as my next move in life,

1 can you tell me the difference between Almeria and costa del sol which I know well

2 I like a big town that I can go to for drinks and meals and socialise with ex pats

3 I don’t want to be too far from airport and train line would be good for visitors

4 what is the roads like in Almeria and can you recommend a town that would suit with finca accomm

Many thanks john

Not many expats around Almeria city but plenty around Mojacar and Roquetas de mar as tourist areas.

We live in Gador nearer Rioja Almeria and there are a handful of expats scattered around. Houses very cheap. Just about 10 mile from Almeria city. Hospital coast etc and near motorway.

That sounds nice kath ,so  you also have a train station to go into almeria ,how busy is gador ,do you like living there and is it easy

for visitors from the uk to get to,,i have spent a lot of time time around alhaurin el grande last year about 35 days as we have freinds living their, but i noticed the other day its cheaper to live in almeria, where should i base myself to explore the region

The train from Gador is not very frequent but buses are better if you have no car. The bus and train station in Almeria are in the same building. And you can get literally anywhere. The problem with Almeria is no flights in winter only from Gatwick. We have in the past flown into Malaga where it is easy to get a bus to Almeria costa about 22euros and takes about 3 hours if you get the express.
