I hope you all don't mind me asking,  but my dad who's 74 and retired and living here in the UK, seems to think that he will not need private health insurance to come and live in Spain (malaga area),

I'm worried about him,  have I got that wrong? , i thought that after brexit, and even now , he would need it ?

If you father intends to live here full time he will have to apply for residencia.

At the moment he can get an S1 form from the DWP, that will give him medical cover which is essential in his application for residencia.

He should really employ a gestor in the area he intends to live in to do the process of residencia/ driving licence etc for him.

Just a question, when does he intend to move here?

Hello again! If your dad obtains residency in Spain before the end of the transition period, and is in receipt of a state pension from the uk, then he is entitled to a form S1. This means the uk govt will pay for your dad to have access to the Spanish public health system.

Then he will not benefit from the withdrawal agreement, and thus will not have a form S1.

You had lots of good advice on your previous thread about your mums position, and this will apply equally to your dad.

After the end of the transition period, as it stands, your dad will be a third country national.
