Hi, will people who live in Spain be allowed to stay in holiday homes in May/June?

The state of emergency is likely to be extended beyond June (just my opinion). Therefore, it is unlikely people will be entitled to travel to their holiday homes.

(I hope I'm wrong, but I'm not)

We were talking to our Spanish friends the other evening they are both teachers.

Their reading of the situation is, the schools will NOT reopen until September and bars/restaurants possible will reopen mid July.

As I see it, if they reopen bars & restaurants there will be free movement and like Matthew says I really believe we are a long time away from that. I think most establishments will have to write off the summer more or less.

Thank you both, I agree with you. Very sorry about all businesses but life is precious

Spain has suffered desperately from the tragedy that is Covid-19. Most of this was caused by the Spanish government getting a load of things wrong at the outbreak of the virus. I'm not going to go into that problem in depth here only to say that the Spanish government along with its Italian, French and UK all counterparts got it  all wrong from the beginning.

In Ireland where everything wasn't got right (but common sense caused less problems than in the aforementioned countries) the emergency restrictions period has already been extended to May 5th and likely that it will be extended further . Spain caught up in its usual red tape, Italy with its screwed up thinking and even France who never knew what they are doing are still talking about extending the restrictions. You might think that they are very good at talking and you're right. The UK according to many posters here will get everything "just right" (although there are exceptions including me who believe they'll get it "just wrong" and the progressive dreadful death toll bears me out).

When this tragedy ends the world will be a different place. Spain will be different too. Even the UK and Ireland will be different. To be honest I fear the months ahead.

During the current lockdown no one is allowed to travel to their holiday home or anywhere else for that matter within Spain. I reckon the state of emergency will be extended well into June and will be devastating for local businesses who will undoubtedly not have much (if any)  trade this summer.

We need to support these folk when this tragedy is over.

There's a very, very simple response to this, and its in the form of another question.

Are you aware of how Murcia got it's first case?

Yes, I'm well aware of how Murcia got it's first case ...you're obviously reffering to the woman that lives in La Churra area of Murcia (which I know well) that traveled to Madrid. So...what are you saying?
