As a new member I have recently read many interesting topics on this forum, and everyone seems very helpful in offering advice. I am currently researching the area and surrounding areas of Lijar. Could anyone help me with my question please? I appreciate the advice maybe from other areas outside of Lijar - I'm just trying to get a basic understanding for that region. I am trying to find out the cost of living for 2 people, no pets, no mortgage, no rent, no pool in the property. On average how much is it for electricity/standing charges, water, tv/internet, council taxes & rubbish, car tax for average small size car (petrol engine). Are there many toll roads? Not sure if I've missed anything. I have had mixed reports on cost of living for food/eating out (only once week). Many thanks in advance.

I just noticed about eating out you can make it cheap with tapas but special meals for two with wine you're always talking about 30 Euro's the car if you're car is registered in Spain there is no tax but I believe as I haven't done yet car tax is payable on that and another good thing is no TV license here and thanks for your reply Davy

Who do you insure you house with? I need buildings insurance for my flat but don’t want the extensive 65 euro a month alarm package that La Caixa bank is keen to sell me! Everyone’s comments much appreciated!

Yes, there is a road tax payable each year on Spanish cars but nothing like as much as in the U.K.

House insurance? We are with Linea Direct (aka Direct Line in UK!). English spoken.
