There is a lake(embalse) at Cuevas De Almanzora but hard to get to even if it has water, fresh water fishing licences in Andalucia are very hard to get needing a 2day exam in Spanish and 3rd party insurance, if caught without the fines can be in the 10s of thousands of euros and even confiscation of the vehicle the fines etc are the same for fishing from the beach,
that said pop down the road to Murcia province and things are a lot easier plus more spots to fish

I was hoping to do a spot of fishing as I'm going to be in Villaricos for 3 months later in the year does that mean you need to take an exam to sea fish as well?, and what do you need to get a licence to fish in Murcia.cheers?

Sea fishing licences are easier to get in Andalucia, you used to have to go to the office of the Medio Ambiente in Almeria, but I have heard the people at the repsol garage on the playa between Garrucha and Mojacar can help?
Murcia also involves a visit to the office in Murcia with passport and fill in a form a lot easier, the strange thing with Murcia is that you are not allowed to catch trout on a wednesday(I think it was wednesday)!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! try telling the trout that,
the easier way to sea fish was with a few Brits that would do a trip on a boat out of garrucha harbour but sadly I have lost all contact with them,I have sent you a PM that may help

Nah dont sell, take a look here they may be able to help
https://www.anglersnet.co.uk/forums/index.php?/topic/71503-fishing-in-murcia-spain-licences/
as I say Murcia is a lot easier for licences and offers good fishing, some magnificent wild carp/barbel etc, my very good friend BeachcomberJohn (of the old Beachcomber bar in Mojacar) and I (DumperCraig) used to run what we called a fishing club mainly a group of like minded people that wanted to drown a maggot or two, and most of the time we fished Murcia even catching carp on silverskin onions on the Embalse De Cenajo.only an hour and a bit from Mojacar

Hi HcjH,
The article is from 2007 is there any more recent info?
I'm asking for my brother in law who is a keen fisherman (lake river and sea) and has quite a collection of rods and reels not to metion the waders, nets etc...
He 's has just bought in Mojacar, near the red cross roundabout and will be moving from Mullingar to there this month. So any advice/leads you can pass on would be greatly appreciated. As for obtaining a licence his Spanish, is at the mo is rather limited so that may be a non starter at present.
The trips form Garrucha, Sunshine charters? at prresent according to thier interwb site are 35€ per trip ok for a holiday but a little pricey for loner term plans
