Hello,

I have recently moved to Zurgena from The UK and I was unable to bring my book collection across. I am an avid reader - mostly thrillers, action and horror but I also like reference books.

Does anyone have any paperback or hardback books that they don't want/need anymore that you are prepared to give away?

If you are in the area I am able to call to collect at your convenience.

If you are able to help - please give me an idea of how many books and type.

Thanks very much.

Garry

Gary in the Heathers Bar & Restaurant, La Alfoquia there's the start of a small book collection - the idea is take a book leave a book.  You are welcome to come in.  You might get a nice book or two.  M

Hi,

I know you asked for books to be given free of charge, but on market days there are stalls selling all types of books for little or nothing- €1 or thereabouts.

Some are very well organised, indexed according to style and type, hardback and paperback etc. Often they will take back the same books when you're finished with them and allow a reduction on another from their collection.

I managed to read all the Lee Child 'Jack Reacher' thrillers from one seller in Los Llanos market between Arboleas and Albox. It's on Saturday morning.

Good luck and happy reading.

Hi,

We get all ours from Charity shops. Either 4 or 5 for 1€. Also supporting Charity. Never use Book Exchanges-way too expensive for what they are.

Thanks for your helpful response. I will try Heathers once I have books to exchange.

Do y0u want actual books or would you consider a Kindle?  I got rid of all my books after buying one about ten years ago.  So convenient.  However, some people do prefer a real book - that was me until I discovered the joys of Kindle.  Now I have a lot more space and only keep a few books for decoration.

Hi,

Thanks for your reply. I haven't considered a kindle. I do like seeing and owning books but a kindle is a option.

How much do they cost and do you pay for each book you then read?

I assume you aren't offering me your kindle but just suggesting another option?

Hi Garry, sorry no, my Kindle & I are joined at the hip. I've had mine for years, they cost around £100 or more depending on the one you get if memory serves me right. Generally speaking they work out much cheaper than the actual books and a big plus for me is you can bring your entire collection of books with you. You'd be amazed how quickly they build up. So you save on weight if you are travelling plus you have your English language books available no matter what country you are in. Everything you need to know us in Amazon anyway. But, as U said before, sometimes people do like the look and feel if a "real" book. It's a personal thing.
