I need lots of advice. Looking to buy property in Costa Almeria in approx 3 years time. Not visited but looked and looked and looked online at all  the towns and resorts. But woo many options. We want to book a week's holiday this year to a base where we can explore towns etc. Villarcios is on my list. So any info would be really appreciated

.

We like quiet, not too touristy, nice walks, history, sandy beaches.I do yoga n gym classes and  keen to keep that up. My partner likes bike riding (gentle).

We are looking to retire there and at first will do 3 months in Spain and 3 months in UK.

Be very careful, is my advice - if you come to Almeria to live. To live here rather than holiday here you will need to register for Residency in Spain. This is a Spanish legal requirement. After the Brexit Transition period ends 31.12.20 the minimum income requirements to secure residency will quadruple as U.K. citizens will become Third Country (non EU) nationals.

The annual income requirement could be as much as €32,000, a figure that most retirees will struggle to fulfill.

Another requirement is that you have sufficient health cover. That means private (and costly, depending on age and pre-existing conditions) health insurance - unless you are a U.K. state pensioner in which case with an S1 form you obtain free access to the Spanish health system.

Good luck with your search but settling here in Spain permanently has become more difficult following Brexit.
