Good afternoon,

My husband and I are moving to Villaricos in March 2022. We have a two year mixed Collie Shepard. He lives to play but will always pull on the lead. Can any one recommend a dog trainer.

Many thanks

Eve

do you use the exending lead? if yes then change it to a short lead with a front fixed harness and this will enable you to keep in front of the dog making you the leader of the pack.  reward good behaviour with a treat when the dog stays beside you and stop whenever they try to pull in front.  the dog will soon learn what you want from it.

Many thanks for your reply. Yes this has been suggested to us before but the problem with the front harness is we are not sure how to use it and we do not want to hurt our dog that is why I was looking for a trainer.

Regards Eve

front harness lead is just that it will not hurt your dog it just gives you more control because you are forward of the dog.

Alicia is quite right, and a proper fitting harness will not harm your dog and will give you control, in most cases its not the dog that needs training it the owner and consistency is the word.

Many thanks. I will give it a try. I am still looking for a dog trainer as Sherman has another couple of issues.

I also have a GSD x Collie so I know exactly what you are talking about 🤣 I would recommend that you contact a lady called Sandra Kirsten - +34 634 392 108. Email is [email protected]. Sandra and I were only talking about this same problem this afternoon, she is an animal behaviourist with numerous years dog training experience behind her.

Kind regards

Sue
