I've just arrived in Vera Playa, so am still finding out what is where, and much else.

Spotted on southern outskirts that Iceland was opening so yday I dropped by. In short its brilliant. Easy access, plenty parking, light & bright, full of UK foods direct from UK, with some UK staff and mostly UK shoppers. Great product range at good prices and some absolute bargains. I even found my fav "Sports Mix" gums; fresh packs still with flavour.

This'll now be my default food & drink store from now on.

Well if you've just arrived it would be new to you but it's been here for years so not new to us.  if you only want to buy english stuff and pay top prices for it then fine but i would try the Spanish supermarkets as well.  very nice new Mercadona in Vera village or you can go to good old Lidls nearly the same as in the UK and good value.  but best value for fruit and vege got to be the local markets if Covid rules allow.

Yes ... definitely not new!  And you will pay top prices there.  If you really can’t survive without familiar British food, then you have it there (plus Super Turre in Turre also stock a large amount of imported goods)

As Alicia 11 mentioned, you’ll find your budget will stretch a LOT further if you use Mercadona / Lidl / MaxiDía / Supermercado Vega in Vera pueblo.

I suspect post transition period there will be some significant price increases on imported British foods as well - definitely if no trade deal is struck.

Whenever we've been to shop at Iceland over the last 4 years - it's not new by any means - I guess we pay about 3 times more than we would do at Lidl or Mercadona or.... anywhere else to be honest. It's nice to get the Slimming World meals for my wife Victoria and there are a few other things we couldn't get elsewhere, but overall it's expensive and we only use it occasionally.

You obviously been away from Spain for many  years as Iceland  has been there for a number of years. Careful what you buy as Murcadonna and Lidl are half the  price of many of the food items. They never seem to alter the prices of the food to correspond with the rate of exchange, even allowing for import duties. You MAY find afew bargains.good luck.

Do not buy the brisket beef from Iceland Vera. Spanish butchers are generally very good, but this one takes the biscuit.  DO NOT buy the brisket beef.  Terrible.  And yes, I know brisket is a cheap cut of meat.  All goods expensive.

Best butcher in Vera is Carnicería Jose, opposite the old Mercadona (which is the new Bazar Xin Ji, opening November)

we only buy about 4 items from Iceland , if you want to shop there for all your products , then you must have money to burn , Mercadona. Lidle ect is bar far the best food and for best value for money , as for fruit and veg i am afraid that i would starve rather than pay what Iceland offer and the quality is old and very very poor

good luck

I support 100% what the other responders are saying.  Iceland is horrendously expensive - you might as well take out a mortgage to cover what you'll be paying, especially considering that a great deal of what they sell is junk "food", highly processed, low in quality and full to bursting with chemicals and additives. In Vera you have Mercadona,  Lidl, Dia etc - all perfectly good supermarkets.  In Mojacar,  Consum sells a good range of UK branded frozen, tinned and packet goods and you will pay half the price of Iceland.  Even better though, why not buy fresh at the  weekly markets - most of the stalls are family run businesses,  quality is superb and prices are excellent.
