Myself, my wife and two young children are renting an apartment in Vera Play for three months from the end of June. We were hoping to applay for our NIE Numbers and stay longer if circumstances allow. How easy is it to obtain the NIE?

Hi,

If you process through a Solicitor then no problem at all. If you go for Residencias you automatically get NIEs. Unsure if you need Padron & of course Medical/ Healthcare cover.

Can only recommend Ana at Grupo Salvador, 327 Paseo del Mediterraneo. Tel. 950 473'192 or drop an e mail to

Perfect English. Excellent communication.

By all means mention Dr. Bob and Sandra

Hi,

You can also obtain NIEs from the Spanish Embassy/ Consulates in UK. Have a look at their website if you have a moment. Should be less expensive.

Have a great stay. Bob

Actually the way I look at it I looked after people for 30years so why stop & Sandra & I have been cheated more times in Spain than anywhere else in.the World. So if we can refer to reputable people.that may save others.

Anyway I get sooooooo bored if not travelling and I find this occupies me.

Sad or what!!!!!!!

A caveat to Bob’s very good advice; getting NIEs through embassy May be easier as if you apply while in country, in the autonomous community of Andalucía you MUST have a reason for obtaining a NIE, not merely just want one.  You will be needing to make a purchase of car or similar such major purchase and you will need to provide pre-sales invoice to that effect.

Your NIE, when received, will bear on the certificate that the NIE is issued solely for the purposes of purchase of whatever it is;  this really doesn’t matter, because once you have your NIE, you have it for life, and no one seems to pay much attention to the fact that it’s older than three months or issued for a particular purpose :-D

EDIT:  have just re-read your original post.  If you are wanting to stay for more than 3 months, then NIE alone won’t cut it - you must obtain Residencia.  This is what allows you to remain in Spain for longer than 90 days in any 180 day period

Un saludo, Darío

Hi, we found it very easy to get our NIE's, we got them last year before moving to Spain.  Our lawyers in Spain obtained them on our behalf.  To do this you need to give them power of attorney to act on your behalf.  This took a visit to the lawyers, they then arranged an appointment with the local Notary (that same week).  A representative from the lawyers came with us to translate and we signed the power of attorney (you must take all passports on this visit).  We returned to the UK after our holiday and meanwhile they obtained our NIE's and we collected them on our next visit to Spain.
