hello,

I am looking to move to Spain next year (provided Brexit doesn't scupper it) and I am looking for some help and advice on the following. I have read that the Spanish authorities require that you have a regular income of 800 euros per month. First of all would this cover both of us if we are married or is this per person?

Is it possible to just have sufficient savings in a bank account?

I won't have a job and will not receive my UK pension for a number of years. I could possibly get a fixed term annuity for 5 years or so that would pay me over 800 euros a month with the guarantee of my works pension kicking in at the end. Does anyone know if this would suffice or if there is any other acceptable solution?

Any help or guidance would be much appreciated.

Regards Susie

To answer your question re savings, then yes, if you can show an annual average balance of 9.750,00€ per person applying, this will suffice in place of a monthly income.

Please remember though, this holds true only as long as Brexit does not occur.  If or when UK leaves the EU either with or without a Withdrawal Agreement, the UK becomes a “third country” for the purposes of residential requirements.  This means applications will no longer be for Residencia, which is for EU Citizens, but for a Biometric Tarjeta de Identidad Extranjero under the general immigration regime.  This carries with it a much MUCH higher income requirement of I recall 27.000€ per annum (Chrisso50 please offer corrections or clarification here)

As the above named incredibly helpful forum member has highlighted elsewhere in the forum, the safest way is to get here before October 31st; I understand of course that may not be practical or possible

Un saludo, Darío

Suggest move quick !

Stick about 10k in bank in Spain - when you submit your residency paperwork you get a certificate from the bank of the average balance ( I stuck it in and got certificate days later ) this avoids messing with income requirements ( caveat some offices will differ )

Use local Gestor - they will know local requirements , will not cost much , maybe 100e each - worth every penny !

After Oct 31st - all bets are off presently.

Good luck :-)
