Hi All

Can you recommend a good solicitor for a house purchase in Vera and the best bank to use. Also a decent handyman to do some tidying up repairs.

Kind regards

John

We have used Maria and Esther at Mundi Abogados - http://www.mundiabogados.com/ -  for 2 purchases and have been very pleased: they speak excellent English, explain everything clearly, they do the proper checks, are ethical and there are no surprises. They arrange NIE numbers, accompany you to the notary and get utilities connected. The thank you cards in their office window at the Las Buganvillas roundabout are testament to the great service they provide. They opened our bank account in Vera at Banco Sabadell and it's been fine there with English-speaking staff, a good app and website and no issues at all.

For a good handyman I recommend Dave Worgan who handled our painting, electrics, pergola, curtain poles, path work and other jobs. He was recommended by our excellent agents at Next Stop Almeria. As he is supposed to be on semi-retirement - yeah right - PM me for the contact details.

Maria Marota at Mundi Abogados right by the roundabout at Buganvillas.  She just organised our house purchase and we couldn't fault her or any of the team there.  She speaks very good English as do the others.  Not sure if her prices are competitive or not, they seemed OK to us.  She was originally recommended by a solicitor in England.

Good luck,  Mike

Maria’s name has come up a few times so confident to go with her. If you can recommend any other tradesmen that would be appreciated as will be new to the area.

All the best

Hey John,

We are still in the process of moving so haven't found too many tradesmen yet.  Found a couple to avoid though.  You might want to watch out for tradesmen 'over-ordering' of supplies and then returning surreptitiously for credit.  If you have a pool or need a pool fixer/handyman I can recommend a chap that we and our buddies use.  Seems to know good plumbers and kitchen fitters which we haven't yet explored

Oh, nearly forgot, Maria Marota fixed up a bank account for us at CAIXA in Garrucha.  The guy there is Antonio and speaks good English and also has a great sense of humour.  Max ATM withdrawal in a 24 hour period is 1000 Euros.  For rebates on household bills paid by direct debit you might want to try the CUENTA 1-2-3 account offered by SANTANDER.  The VERA branch didn't have an English speaker when we visited back in June but .......

That’s great Mike

The place will be a holiday home for us so a pool/handyman is always handy so if you could forward his name and names of the tradesmen to avoid.

Regards

John

The best by a country mile is Luisa Ma Morales of Euroabogados in Vera. She has handled all my house sales and purchased here and has always done a thoroughly professional job. Recommend 100% without reservation. Her contact number is 950617017

Hi Guys

I have had a great response to all my previous posts so same again please.

I need a property altering with lintels, breakthroughs and opening rooms up including a full reform so need contact details of Architects or building companies that handle the lot including building licences.

Kind regards

John
