Many thanks lmj, the hotel looks good also, just what my friends would be looking for.

My recommendation would be for Juan Moreno, just beside Wok.  Whenever we wanted a special meal we would go there.  I've eaten once in Carmona and was slightly disappointed as I felt that both food and service didn't compare with Juan Moreno although it's a nice enough place. Having said this, I admit to being a bit hard to please as I enjoy cooking and many local restaurants disappoint me.

Yes it’s very good quality. But twice we went it was only a couple of tables taken. Carmona has always been busy when we’ve gone there. They gave us a free bottle of Cava Reserva on our wedding anniversary. Also a lovely place to stay.

Many thanks Juanida, we will give it a try when our friends arrive, hopefully later this year.

That must make it special for you.  It certainly would for me. Unfortunately, when we went to Carmona, it was to celelebrate my birthday and we two were the only ones there eben though it was July so the meal seemed to be over aawfully soon..

Terraza Carmona: the temple of traditional Almeria cuisine

Restaurante Terraza Carmona is one of the obligatory stops for any traveler arriving in the province of Almería, along with its beaches and monuments. Located in the heart of the city of Vera, it is a true temple of traditional Almeria cuisine, seasoned with the touches of innovation provided by its chef, Antonio Carmona, one of the most renowned chefs in Andalusia.

For this summer, diners will be able to find a completely updated menu with seasonal products. "It is important and necessary to increase the gastronomic and culinary offer of the restaurant to always be up to date, and by that I mean to go to the market and see the products that nature offers us each season. Vegetables, fruits, meats and fish vary according to the season, this fact serves as a stimulus, activates our creativity and is essential to create the seasonal suggestions in our menu ”, points out Antonio Carmona.

With the change of season we stop seeing artichokes, broad beans, peas, Raf tomatoes, mackerels (with their exquisite roe and Latvians), cuttlefish or milk in the square, but we will find extraordinary gallants, melvas, sardines, wingtips, etc. And the same happens with game meat in its different seasons. The gazpacho, "chocolates" of red shrimp and Almeria tomato, the red tuna tarantelo from almadraba, the gallants, some skewers of horse mackerel and crayfish, some loins of red mullet with white garlic, and a kid carré from Los Filabres stuffed, confit EVOO, for example, will not be missing in the kitchen of Terraza Carmona, making you forget those slaughter crumbs or ball stew until October.

The restaurant's rooms, spacious and with capacity for hundreds of people, will serve to travel through the flavors of the Mediterranean: cold watermelon soup with natural fruits (peretas, plums, apricots) or fig ice cream to accompany its famous The drunken tart from "Los Parentes Minimos", fresh figs with prickly pear ice cream, chocolate fritters ... Dozens of dishes to delight those who choose this corner of Vera for a summer evening.

In addition to the seasonal menu, the suggestion sheet and the tasting menu make up the culinary offer of Hotel - Restaurante Terraza Carmona, all in a safe environment in which the regulations to combat COVID-19 are rigorously met.

A hotel with 38 double rooms

In addition to a restaurant, Terraza Carmona is a three-star hotel, the only one of its kind in Vera Pueblo. It offers maximum comfort and the best service in each of its 38 double rooms. Because its guests are above all very special guests, so the Carmona family provides them with the ideal setting to enjoy tranquility and peace.

The hotel, completely renovated according to the restaurant, is the ideal complement to enjoy Vera, its monuments, its people and its magnificent beaches just 7 km from the city.

I would agree. Actually in Vera, and not in the surrounding district Juan Moreno takes it for us. Not the cheapest, admittedly.

Juan Moreno which is just round the bend from Iceland and the Chinese is a truly excellent Spanish restaurant .We prefer to go there Christmas Day to paying inflated prices on the Playa. Or the restaurant at the Carmona hotel has a good reputation, although we have no experience of it.
