You’re in Spain now!! If you aren’t suitable for the health system in the North of Spain in won’t change in Andulucia. Or will it?

Yes we have had private health care we are residents. We want to know how to enrol onto the Spanish system. Read the question ! There was no point registering up here in Galicia as we knew we would be relocating to Almeria. Thank you and I hope someone can advise us on the proceedure.

Calm down Carlos. You didn’t explain your circumstances ie. are in receipt of state pension etc etc.

no. Just savings private rent. Wife is 62 and I am 50. Looking to start business through the year. How do we enrol for spanish healthcare and also receive the Covid jab?

I’m an OAP, but I’m sure there is a form for people who have private health cover to receive the jab. I would go to your local medical centre and ask. The Spanish government are eager to vaccinate everyone, regardless of their status.

As for the national health system, at your age you won’t be able to as you would need S1 forms from the UK ( I’m assuming that’s where you are from, sorry if I’m wrong) and you won’t get those until your receive your state pension. 

It’s a different ball game if you are self employed, in that case Dario, on this forum will have plenty of info. Maybe try the search box.

Surely 

• paying directly into the public health insurance scheme (Convenio Especial)
• Entitlement should be granted with this surely!

As you are not in receipt of pension, there are three options open to you:

1. Continue paying private health; or
2. Enroll on Convenio Especial (now available in Andalucia) for your age this costs 66€ a month each I believe the fee is; or
3. Start a business and pay Autónomo (308,61€ per person per month) and enroll on health system 

My husband recently enrolled on the Convenio Especial scheme in Almería.  The cost is €60 per month, per person.  The process took about 4 months in total.  He is, apparently, covered for all medical costs but not prescriptions. He has already been called for his pneumonia jab and has had his first Covid Jab with second scheduled for July.

Convenio Especial

Where abouts are you in Almería province?  If you are covered in the north healthcare district (Área de Gestión Norte de Almería),  there are notices on Facebook with a number to call/text to receive your Covid jabs.  I understand that you can also Private Message them on Facebook.  Otherwise you need to take a copy of your Padrón + passport (and originals) to your local health centre, complete the form and they will temporarily register you for 3 months just for Covid Jab purposes.  They will text the appointments to a Spanish phone number, however I understand that this is a slower route than PM'ing on FB or texting them directly. 

Not sure if it is the same procedure in other parts of Almería.
