My husband and I have sold our house in Australia much faster than anticipated so will be relocating to the Albox region early to mid October, pre Brexit.

So, we've stepped up our pre relocation research; what do we need to do and what can we do to prepare for our relocation in the area. We'd like to ask you the experts/expats for your advice on preparing our 'to do list' before and after our arrival.

Thanks in advance

Jane and Michael

Look at the ukgov website under the section moving and living in Spain. Easy to find unfortunately on the forum we cannot give direct website links.

The information will guide you through everything you need to know about living in Spain, what you need to do and advice on renting and buying.

These forums are good for local information but legal advice you should only contact a qualified Lawyer who will be happy to confirm their credentials, like their Bar number.

Good luck with your intended new life in Spain I wish you well, regards  Al

If your AUS nationals the UK rules might not apply

and Brexit might be just an amusing soap opera to you

if your UK nationals then i'm not sure what to say, brexit deadline may be extended, a deal may be stuck or maybe no-deal, how can you plan for the intangibles?

Hi

I am an Aussie living in Almeria. It's a bit complicated unless you have an EU passport. It took me the best part of a year to get residency and the biggest issue is that Aussies only get a 3 mth visa then must leave Spain ( and all Schengan countries) for 3 mths. If you need more details private message me. I can tell you that living in Spain is wonderful and much cheaper than living in Australia even with the crap Aussie dollar.

Thanks for all your replies.

I didn't say but we're Brits so have our UK passports.

My research suggests that there isn't any different in the immigration process if we enter Spain directly from Australia or from the UK. But, we've decided to visit family in England prior to entering Spain and our personal effects will be arriving directly from Australia.

We'll be beginning our next chapter in Almeria soon.
