I have a parcel sent from the UK however it arrived in Madrid last Tuesday the 11th. At the time of writing its still with customs. Postage tariff is correct but no request for duty payment or any info at all. Has anyone experienced such a delay?

Yes, this is quite normal - I’ve had packages from the UK held up in Madrid for up to 4 weeks. Be aware, when postman delivers, he may well also ask you for payment of import duty.
There seems to be no rhyme or reason. I usually get asked for customs duty, but sometimes not

Thanks very much Dario I appreciate that I thought there was a complex problem.

Pre-end of transition period, I paid no duty at all on parcels as UK was still part of free trade agreement / single market etc. a parcel from the UK was treated the same as a parcel from any of the other EU member nations.
Post end of transition period, I now usually pay customs duty which can make ordering in from UK prohibitively expensive.
Yes, I think we can safely say this is a direct result of Brexit.

I seemed to remember Boris and Nigel saying trust us it will be for the good.
Yes. I had 2 parcels with customs in Madrid for weeks. They eventually returned them after stating they remained unclaimed. The tracking showed no sign it was ever sent out for delivery. Got my postage money and parcels back. DONT send anything by post!
Thanks Jenny, the message I have is they have sent the documents out for the recipient but nothing has come at all, so still in Madrid
Thanks again Jenny for the information
