Hi you lovely peeps. Can you help me I’ve got the opportunity to buy a 9 seater minibus in the uk LHD

Is it best to buy this and drive it over or buy a vehicle in Spain

Is there import tax to pay and how do you register a vehicle Spain

LHD is good but the lights will still dip the wrong way as it is a UK vehicle.  Importing a vehicle can be a minefield but certainly not impossible.  Cars in Spain hold their value and can be VERY expensive, so if it’s a good price in the UK, it may be worthwhile - HOWEVER, I’d say get in touch with Car Registrations Spain and get a quote for them to handle the paperwork, inspection, ITV, conversion of headlights (switch the dip or replace unit depending on make and model), register in your name and get Spanish plates.

9 seater is also good as that is the maximum seating capacity you can drive on licence class “B” in Spain

Or let your local gestoria do the work, fee-wise considerably cheaper. Remember to get the coc certificate, it is needed for an import

Local gestoría won’t arrange inspection and ITV, nor will they do the work of replacing headlights - they’ll arrange someone else to do that, so you’ll end up paying more as you’ll have Gestor’s fee on top
