Hello each,

We are coming back for the Winter but I'm debating whether to change the tyres on my car here in UK before we set off.  They have about 5k miles left in them which should just do us but safer rather than sorry. So, my question. On average, are tyre prices in Spain any cheaper or not and if not then how much more expensive please?

Cheers, Mike

Hi Mike,

Are you driving a Brit plated car or Spanish as they are really sticky on ITV here. All sorts of.cpmments- correct loading, must be in metric on tyre wall, etc.

May I respectfully suggest the following?

Contact Tyre King on the Antas Poligono, El Real. Can really recommend them..Give them the specs on your vehicle. They may ask you to photograph the specs on your tyre & send. They will give you a range of tyre prices, then you can compare with UK.

It has always been my believe that tyres are more expensive here.

Believe Tyre King also do partly used.

Tyre King are on Google Search.

Best Wishes,

Bob and Sandra

Thanks for the heads up.  It's a Brit car and I'll look at selling it in Spain later I guess. The current tyres are those from new and are 225/55 R18 V (98).

I know the Antas estate, it's not too far from us in Vera.

Best price i have here is 410GBP for 4 tyres fitted.

Cheers, Mike

I also highly recommend Tyre King - just had 4 brand new Kormoran tyres put on my Peugeot 407 there;  Sizes were 215 SS 17 and including 4 pressure sensor valves I paid 332,00€

Saludos, Darío

Make sure you have the same spec tyres on both axles, actually check your handbook and get the same spec ones, you can have different makes on front and back but they must match, as per when the car came out the factory. Tyre King will tell you what you need to do.

Hi if you are still needing advice then feel free to contact me as I spent 20 odd years in the tyre industry and can guide you no problem. And when you say u got 5 k left in them that suggests to me that they are close to 3mm and as 99% of them start life at 8mm that would mean you’re very close to being illegal here as laws totally diff. Agree, just this morning had a full service on partners car and garage boss suggested 6mm might be good for 5k miles depending on how you travel, what trips and weight and what type of motoring, motorway or short trips

Driving down to Vera from Calais using non toll roads. Pretty much fully loaded, including dogs, roof box and copious quantities of real ale which will of course deplete during the voyage. Nice leisurely 4 or 5 days to complete, we are'nt in any real hurry. 1234 miles in total.
